Getting Started
If you would like to learn more about this practice directly or schedule a first appointment, please call or email and let me know the best time to reach you.
First appointment:
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I am currently seeing new and existing patients virtually rather than in person. I use an encrypted HIPAA-compliant video platform that allows us to meet confidentially and virtually until health guidelines determine it is safe to meet in person.
Under typical circumstances, your first appointment would be at my office, located in Chapel Hill. You would have a seat in my waiting room at the time of your appointment where I would greet you and show you to my office. We would then review the intake paperwork provided to you when you made your appointment and address any questions you have about starting psychotherapy.
This first session is an assessment for me to get to know what brings you in and for you get a sense of how I work and could be helpful to you. Therapeutic "fit" between patient and therapist is critically important for effective psychotherapy. I encourage you to use this initial appointment to get a sense of whether or not you feel comfortable with me and whether you feel understood and listened to. You are free to express any questions or concerns you have about starting therapy in this session. At the end of this initial appointment, we will discuss scheduling a weekly time to meet if it suits
Session Length:
Individual psychotherapy sessions are 50 minutes.
Couples therapy appointments are 55 minutes.
EMDR sessions and Couples therapy can be scheduled for 90 minutes at your request or when clinically useful. These appointment times are limited based on my availability and are charged at an adjusted rate.
Payment:
Payment is collected the day of your appointment, unless otherwise arranged. I accept all major credit cards, debit cards, and health savings account (HSA) cards. Payments can be made electronically through my Client Portal and by cash or check.
